I finally got an office that meets the needs of all of my clients. I will be offering groups for children with autism teaching social skills. These groups will be after school. I have sensory tools and objects to assist these children in learning how to advocate for themselves. This will be great!!!
Missing family
Summer is a great family time. I love spending the extra time with my children and all the relaxing with hikes, swimming, camping. . We have a lot of fun…BUT…I hear almost every day…we miss our cousins. And they do have cousins!!!!. I am the oldest of 11, so my children have 48 cousins with one on the way…so it is hard to be away from all of them. Last year we drove to North Carolina for an extended family vacation and that is all the kids want to do this year…we miss our cousins, let’s go to the ocean, (as though it is right down the street) . Anyone else experiencing family sadness from missing family this summer How do you feel with your children going back to school? I hate the end of summer. Ilove having the relaxed time with my children..yes, the do drive me crazy..but hey it is only a short time. I am conducting an informal survey to determine what are the feelings of most parents as they prepare to send their children back to school.
What is one word you would use to describe your feelings about August 28th? I figure since I have the column, "On the couch with Dr. Kelsch" in Montana Parent this is our opportunity to talk off the couch. What are your wondering about?
What is your opinion of medication vs. counseling? I think we need both. BUT, I am certainly biased toward counseling first. If it is not as successful as desired go ahead and add the correct medication and continue counseling. Medication without counseling DOES NOT WORK!!!! I am very concerned about the medication that is being dispensed. A dear psychologist friend of mine was given psychotic drugs after a concussion and then had to go to drug rehabilitation due to the negligent over prescribing of the physician. I have spoken to several adults in the last two months that have had similar experiences, so where does that leave our children? |
